Nolah sells direct-to-consumer foam, foam hybrid, and latex hybrid mattresses. Since its launch in 2015, Nolah has grown to offer a total of five models.

Touted as an environmentally friendly model, the Nolah Natural is a medium firm (6) latex hybrid that contours while limiting sinkage. It consists of natural materials, including latex, cotton, and wool, which help wick away moisture and enhance the airflow to keep sleepers cool throughout the night.

In addition to the Nolah Natural, the company offers one other latex hybrid model: the Nolah Nurture. The Nolah Nurture is a flippable model intended for children. It comes in three sizes: twin, twin XL, and full.

Three other non-latex options are also available. The Nolah Original 10” and the Nolah Signature 12” are both all-foam models. Both the Nolah Original and the Nolah Signature 12” have a medium (5) feel. Meanwhile, the Nolah Evolution 15” is a foam hybrid model that comes in three firmnesses: medium (5), medium firm (6), and firm (8). All three use AirFoam comfort layers designed to stay cooler than memory foam by allowing heat to dissipate.

Today, we will look at the specifications, pricing, and performance of the Nolah Natural Latex Mattress. We’ll also summarize Nolah’s shipping costs, warranty policy, and sleep trial.

Side Sleepers

The Nolah Naturals is a good choice for side sleepers looking for pressure relief without a lot of sinkage.

Its Talalay latex comfort system conforms to a side sleeper’s hips and shoulders to help redistribute their weight and reduce hip and shoulder discomfort. Since the material also limits sinkage, most side sleepers shouldn’t have to worry about their hips sinking in excessively and putting a strain on their lower back. Zoning in the support core also reinforces the center of the bed to prevent the hips from sagging.

Thanks to its medium firm feel, the Nolah Natural performs well for most side sleepers across weight groups. However, its combination of contouring and support is best suited for side sleepers over 130 pounds.

Back Sleepers

Back sleepers may have an easier time maintaining their spinal alignment because of the Nolah Natural’s supportive design.

Structure from the Nolah Natural’s coils provides an even sleep surface, preventing excessive sinkage that could put a strain on a back sleeper’s lumbar area. Zoning enhances the midsection’s support to further reduce the likelihood of a back sleeper’s hips sagging. Meanwhile, the Talalay latex comfort system has just enough give for the hips to sink without drooping, thereby promoting good posture.

The mattress’ medium firm feel is well suited for back sleepers up to 230 pounds, balancing gentle cradling with stable support.

Stomach Sleepers

The Nolah Natural’s limited sinkage and zoned support make it a comfortable option for many stomach sleepers.

Since the Talalay latex comfort system spreads compression across the surface, most stomach sleepers should not sink in excessively. The coil core is sturdier near the center, which helps prevent the sleeper’s midsection from pulling their spine out of alignment.

Because of its medium firm feel, the Nolah Natural may be closest to ideal for stomach sleepers who weigh less than 130 pounds. While the mattress should also be comfortable for many stomach sleepers over 130 pounds, some who carry extra weight near their midsection could experience discomfort in their lower backs.

Mattress Performance

In addition to the hands-on feedback from our team, we conduct a number of quantitative tests in our Test Lab. The below ratings are based on the experience of our testers.

Motion Isolation

6.5/10

Thanks to its Talalay latex comfort system and pocketed coil core, the Nolah Natural isolates motion to an extent. The latex absorbs some surface-level vibrations, and the coils move independently to prevent the spread of movement across the core.

However, latex’s natural responsiveness and the bounce of the coils could contribute to mild motion transfer. While this shouldn’t be a problem for most sleepers, those who share their bed with a restless partner and wake up easily might notice the vibrations more.

Pressure Relief

7.5/10

The Nolah Natural provides moderate pressure relief. The Talalay latex comfort system has enough give to cradle a sleeper’s curves, but it does not conform to the body as closely as memory foam. However, the Talalay latex can provide spinal support since it has less sinkage.

Nolah’s core is also engineered for spinal support with a higher coil density in the lumbar region. The concentration of coils in the center of the mattress is designed to provide 25% better support than traditional coil options to promote good spinal alignment.

Overall, this combination of pressure relief and support is appropriate for many sleepers. However, some individuals with sharper pressure points may prefer greater contouring.

Temperature Control

8.5/10

While most latex hybrids regulate temperatures well, the Nolah Natural outranks most of its latex competitors when it comes to helping sleepers stay cool.

A cotton cover lets air circulate into the mattress, and a wool layer wicks away heat and moisture. The Talalay latex comfort system does not hug the body like some materials and is naturally breathable. Small holes in the latex and open areas in the pocketed coil support core also allow more airflow throughout the night.

Edge Support

7.5/10

The Nolah Natural has very supportive edges compared to many of its competitors. Its Talalay latex comfort system limits sinkage by spreading compression over a wider area, and the pocketed coils help maintain the structure along the mattress’ perimeter.

Because of its supportive edges, most sleepers can use the full surface of the bed without feeling like they may fall off. This may make the Nolah Natural a strong option for couples, sleepers with mobility issues, and individuals over 230 pounds.

Ease of Movement

8.5/10

Latex hybrid models often score highly in ease of movement, and the Nolah Natural is no exception. Its responsive Talalay latex comfort system regains its shape quickly when the sleeper changes positions to limit impressions that could impede movement. The bounce further aids motion.

The mattress’ medium firm (6) feel also makes it easier for most sleepers to move by preventing the restrictive hugging sensation.

Off-Gassing

8.5/10

Off-gassing refers to the odor that a mattress emits upon unboxing. Usually, off-gassing is more pronounced in models that contain synthetic materials and ship compressed because manufacturing odors become trapped inside. Off-gassing is not commonly considered dangerous, but it can be irritating.

Like most similarly constructed models, the Nolah Natural has minimal off-gassing. Since it contains natural materials, it is unlikely to let off a chemical odor. However, the latex may emit a smell similar to rubber.

The Nolah Natural’s eco-INSTITUT certification also verifies that the product has low volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions.

Nolah Natural Latex Mattress Review Breakdown

The Nolah Natural Latex Mattress is an 11-inch thick, medium firm (6) model.

A GOTS-certified organic cotton cover wraps around the mattress. Cotton naturally allows air circulation to cool the surface, and a breathable, temperature-regulating layer of GOTS-certified organic wool adds to this effect.

Following the wool layer is a 2-inch comfort layer of airy, responsive Talalay latex that gently cradles the body. A 1-inch transition layer of firmer Talalay latex deepens the contouring while adding support. Talalay latex is lighter and more breathable than Dunlop latex due to differences in their production methods. The latex in the Nolah Natural is also hole-punctured for extra air circulation and certified by the Rainforest Alliance for sustainable practices.

Next, a support core of patented HDMax Tri-Zone coils reinforces the surface. This layer is zoned with extra coils near the center of the mattress to limit midsection sagging and promote good posture. The coils are also pocketed to reduce motion transfer and better contour to the sleeper’s shape.

Finally, a layer of organic wool and cotton serves as a foundation for the coil system.
