Tulo uses the mattress-in-a-box buying and shipping method to deliver comfortable and supportive mattresses directly to the purchaser’s home. The company’s memory foam and hybrid mattress collections cater to people with a variety of body types and preferred sleep positions.

The Tulo line includes both hybrid and all-foam mattresses, all of which come in multiple heights to suit a wide range of sleepers. The Tulo Hybrid Mattress, which combines foam with pocketed coils to create breathable support, comes in six height options. The Memory Foam Lavender Mattress is available in four height options and incorporates lavender-infused memory foam, meant to give the bed a fresh smell.

The Memory Foam Bamboo Mattress comes in three height options (6 inches, 8 inches, and 10 inches), but each features a stretch-knit cover made with rayon derived from bamboo, as well as a gel-infused memory foam comfort layer. We’ll explore all three of the Memory Foam Bamboo Mattress’ height options in depth, examining their performance, pricing, and sizing.

Side Sleepers

If a mattress doesn’t respond to body weight in the right spots, the sleeper’s posture will suffer, leading to potential aches and pains upon waking. All-foam mattresses typically respond well to a person’s body position and weight, adjusting to provide enough give in key spots to help maintain proper spinal alignment.

The Tulo Memory Foam Bamboo Mattress’ 10-inch option performs extremely well for most side sleepers in this area, particularly for side sleepers weighing less than 230 pounds.

The 8-inch and 6-inch height options also support side sleepers weighing more than 130 pounds adequately. However, side sleepers weighing less than 130 pounds will likely prefer a softer bed.

Back Sleepers

Most back sleepers should receive excellent support from the 8- and 10-inch versions of the Memory Foam Bamboo Mattress, and the 6-inch height option will provide adequate support, too. Thicker comfort layers in the 8-inch and 10-inch options provide the best pressure relief to back sleepers weighing less than 130 pounds. However, sleepers weighing between 130 and 230 pounds will still receive good support.

Back sleepers weighing less than 230 pounds who prefer a firmer feel may find the 6-inch option a good fit. Those weighing over 230 pounds, however, would benefit from a more supportive mattress.

Stomach Sleepers

All-foam mattresses don’t typically provide the best support to stomach sleepers, due to the way foam has a tendency to allow the hips to sink too far, which can misalign the sleeper’s spine. However, the 8-inch Memory Foam Bamboo Mattress does provide stomach sleepers weighing less than 130 pounds with above-average pressure relief and support. Those weighing between 130 and 230 pounds may also receive adequate support from the 8-inch model.

The 6-inch mattress offers the appropriate firmness for stomach sleepers weighing less than 130 pounds, while the 10-inch option can help stomach sleepers weighing less than 230 pounds achieve a good night’s sleep.

Mattress Performance

In addition to the hands-on feedback from our team, we conduct a number of quantitative tests in our Test Lab. The below ratings are based on the experience of our testers.

Motion Isolation

6/10

Tulo Comfort Series – Firm: 6 / 10

Tulo Comfort Series – Medium: 7.5 / 10

Tulo Comfort Series – Soft: 7.5 / 10

Like most memory foam mattresses, the 6-inch and 8-inch height options of the Tulo Memory Foam Bamboo Mattress provide adequate motion isolation for many sleepers. However, more sensitive sleepers may prefer the 10-inch version, which has additional memory foam and offers above-average motion isolation.

Pressure Relief

6/10

Tulo Comfort Series – Firm: 6 / 10

Tulo Comfort Series – Medium: 7.5 / 10

Tulo Comfort Series – Soft: 7.5 / 10

The 10-inch Memory Foam Bamboo Mattress’ thick layer of soft, conforming memory foam provides great pressure relief to most sleepers. The foam contours to the body in high-pressure spots, helping sleepers maintain good posture through the night.

The 8-inch mattress also works well to relieve pressure, though it doesn’t contour as much as the 10-inch mattress. However, the 6-inch mattress isn’t as effective as the other options when it comes to relieving pressure.

Temperature Control

3.5/10

Tulo Comfort Series – Firm: 6 / 10

Tulo Comfort Series – Medium: 6 / 10

Tulo Comfort Series – Soft: 4.5 / 10

All three height options of the Tulo Memory Foam Bamboo Mattress regulate temperature well, making this bed a good option for hot sleepers.

The Memory Foam Bamboo Mattress is made with gel-infused memory foam. The tiny gel microbeads are designed to prevent retention–a common problem with all-foam mattresses.

The cover, which is made with rayon derived from bamboo, also breathes well, encouraging cooler sleeping.

Edge Support

5/10

Tulo Comfort Series – Firm: 6 / 10

Tulo Comfort Series – Medium: 4.5 / 10

Tulo Comfort Series – Soft: 4.5 / 10

Despite their foam construction, the 6- and 8-inch Memory Foam Bamboo Mattresses are firm enough to offer good edge support, allowing you to sit or sleep on the edge of the bed without experiencing much sagging.

The 10-inch mattress, however, includes the most memory foam, which is designed to respond to body weight and may sink if a sleeper gets too close to the edge.

Ease of Movement

3.5/10

Tulo Comfort Series – Firm: 6 / 10

Tulo Comfort Series – Medium: 4.5 / 10

Tulo Comfort Series – Soft: 4.5 / 10

While memory foam relieves pressure well, aiding sleepers in maintaining proper spinal alignment, it can also restrict movement, especially if the foam is thick or especially soft. For this reason, the 6- and 8-inch versions of the Memory Foam Bamboo Mattress, which are firmer than the 10-inch version, may better suit sleepers who want to be able to move more freely across the mattress.

Off-Gassing

4/10

Off-gassing is a chemical-like smell that is released when you remove a new mattress from its packaging for the first time. Off-gassing generally doesn’t harm sleepers and fades within a short timeframe. However, some sleepers may be sensitive to the smell.

While all-foam mattresses typically produce significant off-gassing due to the manufacturing process, all three height options of the Tulo Memory Foam Bamboo Mattress perform as expected in this category given their construction.

Tulo Mattress Review Breakdown

The Tulo Memory Foam Bamboo Mattress is an all-foam bed available in three heights and firmness levels: a 6-inch firm (7), an 8-inch medium firm (6), and a 10-inch medium (5). All three options include a gel-infused memory foam comfort layer and a polyfoam support core.

The gel-infused memory foam contours to the sleeper, cradling the body to relieve pressure in key areas while the gel infusion is meant to draw away heat. The polyfoam support core beneath the comfort layer stabilizes the bed, adding durability and increasing support.

With 2 inches of memory foam in the comfort layer and 8 inches of polyfoam in the support core, the 10-inch mattress is the softest and most responsive option. The 6-inch option, on the other hand, has only 1 inch of memory foam in the comfort layer and 5 inches of polyfoam in the support core, making it the firmest choice.

The 8-inch model offers a mid-range option with a 1.5-inch memory foam comfort layer and a 6.5-inch polyfoam support core. It’s firm enough to provide edge support on par with the 6-inch bed but conforming enough to relieve pressure.

All three options include a soft zippered cover made with rayon derived from bamboo. Tulo makes its mattresses in the U.S. using CertiPUR-US certified foam materials.

Shoppers can add a bunkie board or metal foundation to their order for an additional cost. However, Tulo designed the Memory Foam Bamboo Mattress to work well on most flat surfaces, giving purchasers a variety of options for mattress support.

Mattress Prices and Sizing

The Tulo Memory Foam Bamboo Mattress is available at three different price-points, depending on the height option chosen. The 6-inch mattress comes in at the lowest price, while the 10-inch mattress has the highest price tag, due to the additional materials required for its construction.
