Beds with good motion isolation help keep movement on one side of the bed from disturbing the sleeper on the opposite side. Our testers found that the Titan Plus had very good motion isolation, due to the pocketed coil design.
While traditional coil beds generally have poor motion isolation, the Titan Plus’s pocketed coils, which are individually wrapped in fabric, can be compressed individually without affecting the surrounding coils. This results in good motion isolation on the Titan Plus.

Pros & Cons:
The Titan Plus by Brooklyn Bedding — previously known as the Titan Firm Hybrid — is a unique bed designed specifically for heavier people. Its design is engineered to meet the needs of heavy sleepers, providing extra support and durability. It features a firm feel and highly responsive support.
The Titan Plus is a firm bed, at about a 8 out of 10 on our 10-point firmness scale. This makes it a good fit for people who are heavier, and particularly for back and stomach sleepers. Some side sleepers may find that it is too firm for their taste.
This is a hybrid mattress, utilizing pocketed metal coils with layers of firm polyfoam. It features a 6-inch support core of pocketed coils on a 2-inch bed of firm polyfoam, along with 2 inches of polyfoam, and 1 inch of gel memory foam for comfort.
We’ll explain the Titan Plus’s construction, our own testing results, pricing, warranty, returns and everything else you need to know to find out if this is the right bed for you.

Sleeping Style and Body Weight
Side Sleepers
Overall, our testing found that the Titan mattress will likely feel too firm for many side sleepers. Most side sleepers tend to prefer mattresses that are softer to moderately firm, but the Titan is about an 8 out of 10, making it very firm.
The Titan performs very well for side sleepers who are over 230 pounds. Side sleepers that weigh less than 230 pounds will likely find that the Titan puts too much pressure on the shoulders and hips, due to its very firm feel with minimal conforming.
Back Sleepers
The Titan performs very well for many back sleepers. Most people who sleep on their backs tend to prefer relatively firm beds. Unsurprisingly, the Titan performed best for the very category of sleeper it was designed for: heavier individuals. Our testers found that the Titan was most comfortable for those over 230 pounds or so.
The Titan is also a good option for back sleepers who weigh between 130 and 230 pounds, so long as they prefer firm mattresses. The hybrid design of this bed makes it well suited to back sleeping, as it provides a good blend of rigid support and moderate conforming. This combination helps to keep the spine aligned, while also providing just enough conforming to feel comfortable.
Stomach Sleepers
Overall, the Titan is a good fit for most stomach sleepers. The majority of people who sleep on their stomachs prefer a firm feel, which the Titan provides. The pocketed coils provide strong support that prevents the stomach from sinking too far into the mattress, helping to keep the spine properly aligned.
The Titan performs best for heavier people, but our testers noted that most stomach sleepers found this mattress to be comfortable. Stomach sleepers who weigh less than 130 pounds will probably find that the Titan feels a bit too firm, but some may enjoy it.

Mattress Performance
In addition to the hands-on feedback from our team, we conduct a number of quantitative tests in our Test Lab. The below ratings are based on the experience of our testers.
Titan Mattress Review Breakdown
The Titan Mattress by Brooklyn Bedding is specifically designed for the needs of heavier sleepers. It uses a reinforced design with high-density foams and strong springs to create a supportive, comfortable and durable bed.
The Titan is a hybrid mattress, which means that it utilizes both metal coils and a substantial comfort system. Generally speaking, hybrids aim to combine the positive features of innerspring mattresses (firm support) with those of foam or other beds (comfort and conforming).
The underlying support core of the Titan is made up of 6 inches of 13.5-gauge pocketed coils, sitting on top of 2 inches of very firm polyfoam. The coils are thick, providing very firm underlying support. There are hundreds of coils in the bed, with each one individually wrapped in fabric. This pocketed design allows the coils to move independently from one another, responding to changes in pressure individually rather than all sinking in as a unit. The design also helps to isolate motion, making it easier to move around without disturbing your partner.
On top of the support core sits 2 inches of firm polyfoam and 1 inch of gel-infused memory foam. The polyfoam is a proprietary material from Brooklyn Bedding called TitanFlex. It’s a dense, latex-like material that provides good durability and a responsive feel, but doesn’t provide much conforming. The thin, 1-inch layer of memory foam is moderately firm and does provide a somewhat softer feel, but ultimately the comfort layer is both thinner and firmer than the average mattress. For those who prefer more conforming, an optional Talalay latex mattress topper is available.
Finally, a quilted cotton knit cover tops the mattress. It’s soft, durable and fairly breathable. For an extra fee, customers can choose to have an upgraded cover that’s made with phase change material technology. This advanced cover works to draw body heat away from the sleeper, helping to keep a neutral temperature on warm nights. This optional cover is a good upgrade for those who sleep hot. However, since the Titan offers good temperature neutrality already, the upgraded cover may or may not be necessary.

Mattress Prices and Sizing
The Titan Mattress from Brooklyn Bedding is nicely priced for a high-quality hybrid bed. Prices range from $699 to $1249, depending on the size you choose. Based on the prices of competing models of a similar quality, the Titan is a bit more affordable than average.
Because this is a specialty mattress designed for heavier sleepers, we think the Titan offers a very good value overall. There are few mattress options on the market that are specifically designed for heavier people, and those that are tend to be on the expensive side.
Keep in mind that the prices listed below are for the base model, without any add-on features. There are two optional add-ons available:
- An advanced cooling cover with phase change material
- A conforming Talalay latex mattress topper
Adding one of these optional features will bump the price of the Titan up significantly, but they may be worthwhile upgrades for some sleepers.
