SweetNight is a direct-to-consumer mattress company founded in 2008. The company sells mattresses and other bedding items at budget-friendly prices. Products include pillows, toppers, a mattress protector, and five mattress models.

The mattress line consists of three hybrid models and two foam options. The Ocean Blue is the thinnest, most affordably priced hybrid in the lineup. Both the Island and the Twilight come in two thickness options, but the Island is slightly lower in price due to its simpler design. The all-foam Sunkiss is the only flippable model in the line with a different firmness on each side. It also comes in two thickness options. SweetNight’s other all-foam option is the Breeze, which comes in three thicknesses.

We’ll focus exclusively on the SweetNight Twilight, the company’s highest-priced hybrid model. In addition to assessing its performance, we’ll break down its construction, pricing, and sizing. We’ll also summarize company policies to give you a clearer idea of what to expect. Read on to see if the SweetNight Twilight is the best mattress for you.

Side Sleepers

The hips and shoulders of side sleepers press into the bed, due to their greater width and weight. Since this can lead to aches and pains in these areas, side sleepers often prefer a mattress that contours to their shape and provides additional cushioning.

The Twilight’s foam layers work together to cradle a side sleeper’s hips and shoulders while supporting their spine, and the coil core further responds to the shape of the body without allowing excessive sinkage.

Lighter sleepers tend to prefer softer beds, while the best mattresses for heavy sleepers are firm. Because of its medium firm feel, the Twilight may be ideal for side sleepers who weigh under 230 pounds. These individuals should sink in enough to enjoy exceptional pressure relief while also getting the support they need to keep their spines aligned. Side sleepers who weigh over 230 pounds should also experience pressure relief, but some individuals may notice minor sagging around their hips and shoulders that could make it difficult to keep their spines well aligned.

Back Sleepers

Sleeping on the back typically keeps the spine close to its natural alignment, so back sleepers usually need an even surface that lets the hips sink in a bit without sagging.

Thanks to its contouring comfort system, the Twilight should provide many back sleepers with gentle hip cradling. The polyfoam transition layer and coil core limit sinkage to help keep the spine aligned.

The medium firmness of the Twilight is on the softer end of the range that many back sleepers prefer. However, this firmness is likely to be exceptionally well suited to back sleepers who weigh under 130 pounds, who are likely to benefit from balanced support and contouring. Individuals who weigh between 130 and 230 pounds may notice their hips sinking in slightly more than they’d like, but they should still rest relatively comfortably.

Those who weigh over 230 pounds may experience more significant sagging near their hips that could put pressure on their lumbar region and contribute to aches and pains.

Stomach Sleepers

Stomach sleeping often puts a strain on the lower back. This is most common when the midsection sinks more deeply into the mattress than the rest of the body. As a result, stomach sleepers usually need a firmer mattress than those who prefer other sleep positions.

The Twilight’s medium firm feel may be slightly softer than the optimal firmness for all weight groups of stomach sleepers. Those who weigh under 230 pounds might enjoy the cushioning of the foam comfort layers with only minor sinkage before reaching the support of the coil core. Stomach sleepers who weigh over 230 pounds are likely to experience more sagging near their midsections, which could strain their lumbar regions.

Mattress Performance

In addition to the hands-on feedback from our team, we conduct a number of quantitative tests in our Test Lab. The below ratings are based on the experience of our testers.

Motion Isolation

5.5/10

The Twilight isolates a moderate amount of motion compared to other hybrid models. Its foam comfort layers and polyfoam transition layer absorb minor vibrations and dampen more significant movement, so you shouldn’t notice every time your partner moves during the night.

Since the coil layer gives the bed bounce, it could lead to some motion transfer. Each coil is individually wrapped, which helps limit the spread of vibrations. However, you still may feel slight movement when your partner rolls over or gets in or out of bed.

Pressure Relief

6/10

Like many hybrid models with a medium firm feel, the Twilight performs well in terms of pressure relief. Its polyfoam and memory foam comfort layers mold to the sleeper’s body to evenly distribute their weight.

The polyfoam transition layer reduces the likelihood that sleepers will sink in against the firmer coil core. Since the coils move independently, they can also provide support without excessive pressure to accommodate different body types and sleep positions.

The extent to which the Twilight relieves pressure will depend on the sleeper’s body type and preferred sleep position. Most individuals who weigh under 230 pounds should benefit from the contouring layers regardless of their sleep position, and side sleepers who weigh over 230 may also feel minimal pressure around their hips and shoulders.

Temperature Control

6.5/10

Hybrid models are often popular with hot sleepers because of their breathable designs. The hybrid construction of the Twilight offers temperature-regulating properties.

The foam comfort layers conform closely to the body, which may cause some heat retention. The gel infusion in the second layer is intended to reduce overheating by transferring warmth away from the body. The ventilated polyfoam transition layer is also designed for breathability. Additionally, air can circulate through the cotton cover and between the coils in the core to dissipate heat.

Edge Support

6.5/10

When you sit or sleep near the perimeter of a mattress, that area compresses, which can make it feel unstable. This may limit the usable sleeping area and make it harder to get in and out of bed. Hybrid models often have reinforcements in their coil cores that make their edges feel more secure than all-foam models.

While the Twilight’s perimeter isn’t as supportive as some hybrid models, the sturdy coil core limits sinkage around the edge. Most sleepers should be able to use the full mattress surface without limiting their movements, but some larger individuals may experience more sagging around the perimeter.

Ease of Movement

6.5/10

Many hybrid models are easy to move around on because of their springy coil cores, and the Twilight Mattress excels in this performance category.

Memory foam can feel slightly restrictive to some individuals, but this effect is limited since it is in the second layer of the mattress. The top layer of polyfoam does not hug the body as closely as memory foam, and those who weigh under 230 pounds shouldn’t sink in enough to feel trapped by the mattress.

Additionally, the responsive polyfoam transition layer and bouncy coil core limit sinkage and respond quickly to changes in pressure to make movement easier.

Off-Gassing

6/10

Off-gassing odors are common in mattresses with synthetic foam, and they can linger in the bed when it ships compressed. Experts generally consider most off-gassing to be harmless, but some individuals may dislike the smell.

SweetNight uses CertiPUR-US certified foams, which means they’ve tested low in volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and are free of formaldehyde, lead, mercury, and other potentially harmful substances.

SweetNight recommends you give your new mattress 72 hours to air out and expand. Most smells should dissipate during this time.

SweetNight Twilight Mattress Review Breakdown

The SweetNight Twilight has a medium firm feel that rates around 6 on the 10-point firmness scale. This is near the softer end of the range that most sleepers typically gravitate toward.

It comes in two thickness options: 10 inches and 12 inches. Both versions have the same basic construction.

The Twilight has a cotton knit cover with a plush feel. This material allows air circulation to help heat escape the mattress. A top layer of high-density convoluted polyfoam contours to the shape of the body without restricting movement. Gel-infused memory foam acts as a second comfort layer. While the memory foam offers additional conforming to limit pressure buildup, the gel infusion is intended to help counteract potential heat retention.

A transition layer of ventilated polyfoam is engineered to enhance air circulation and temperature control. It also acts as a barrier between the softer comfort layers and the firmer core. The support core is composed of tempered steel coils, individually wrapped to allow more precise support without significant motion transfer.

Trial, Warranty, and Shipping Policies

Availability

The SweetNight Twilight Mattress is currently available exclusively online. Shoppers can buy it through the official SweetNight website and various third-party retailers, including Amazon.

Shipping

The SweetNight Twilight Mattress ships free to most of the contiguous United States, but additional shipping charges may apply to some remote areas.

SweetNight aims to ship mattresses out the next business day after an order is placed. Customers will receive a confirmation email with tracking information when their order leaves the warehouse. Most shipments arrive within 2 to 6 business days and are delivered via FedEx.

The mattress arrives compressed, rolled, wrapped in plastic, and encased in a box. Customers are responsible for moving the package into their home, placing it in their room of choice, and unpacking it.

While you can lie on the mattress after it has expanded for six hours, SweetNight recommends waiting for at least 72 hours to give it time to air out and fully expand.

Additional Services

SweetNight does not currently offer White Glove delivery or old mattress removal.

Sleep Trial

The Twilight comes with a 100-day sleep trial. During this time, customers can return or exchange their mattress if it is still in good condition and free of stains and other damage.

Warranty

A 10-year limited warranty protects the Twilight Mattress against certain defects in materials and workmanship, including body impressions and sagging over 1.5 inches, and physical flaws that cause the foam to split or crack.

If SweetNight verifies an eligible defect, the company will either repair or replace the mattress.

This warranty applies to the original purchaser of the Twilight. Damage from abuse, misuse, mishandling, or the use of an improper foundation is not covered. Other terms and conditions apply.
