The Novilla Vitality Hybrid Mattress is an affordable 12-inch hybrid that has solid all-around performance and a medium firm (6) feel that many types of sleepers will find comfortable and supportive.

Novilla also sells the Serenity Hybrid, a comparable model that’s 2 inches thinner and slightly less expensive. The Novilla Bliss Mattress, which comes in heights of 10 or 12 inches, features an all-foam design that focuses on pressure relief. Customers can also find affordably priced mattress toppers, pillows, and mattress protectors on Novilla’s website.

The Vitality Hybrid is the New York-based company’s premium model. Its design includes a foam comfort system and pocketed coil core. We’ll examine its materials and performance, explain how it ranked during our testing process, and dive in to whether the Novilla Vitality Hybrid is the best mattress for you.

Side Sleepers

Side sleepers generally prefer a softer mattress because their body weight isn’t spread as evenly across the mattress compared to back and stomach sleepers. The Vitality Hybrid’s memory foam layer cradles high-impact areas like hips and shoulders, helping to relieve them of pressure buildup.

Side sleepers between 130 and 230 pounds will likely find this model’s medium firm feel and moderate contouring an excellent fit, as it helps align the spine without causing discomfort. While it’s still comfortable for people under 130 pounds and above 230 pounds, these side sleepers may prefer softer and firmer mattresses, respectively.

Back Sleepers

People who prefer sleeping on their back need a mattress that doesn’t let the midsection sink too deeply into the support core, as this can cause the spine to fall out of alignment. The Vitality Hybrid’s coil core provides robust and comfortable support for back sleepers between 130 and 230 pounds. The upper memory foam and polyfoam layers prevent this model from feeling too firm for back sleepers in this weight range.

In our tests, people weighing under 130 pounds found this mattress had adequate support, though some preferred a softer model. Conversely, while it provides enough support for back sleepers over 230 pounds, some testers favored a firmer model. The best mattresses for heavier sleepers tend to be quite firm.

Stomach Sleepers

Stomach sleepers require the firmest surface of all the sleeping styles, since a mattress that’s too soft doesn’t fully support the midsection and causes the spine to bend in the middle. This model has decent support for stomach sleepers under 230 pounds and shouldn’t cause the spine to fall out of alignment.

Combination sleepers over 230 pounds who occasionally sleep on their stomach could also get good support from this mattress, though anyone who sleeps on their stomach all the time may want to pass in favor of a firmer model.

Mattress Performance

In addition to the hands-on feedback from our team, we conduct a number of quantitative tests in our Test Lab. The below ratings are based on the experience of our testers.

Motion Isolation

6.5/10

The Vitality Hybrid’s memory foam successfully prevents significant motion transfer, which can be helpful for couples who tend to wake each other when one partner changes sleeping positions. The polyfoam layer also enhances motion isolation.

However, the mattress still has some bounce because of its pocketed coil core. The coils are individually wrapped, which cuts down on the amount of movement that transfers from side to side, but the bed’s surface is not completely motion-free.

Light sleepers or those looking for maximum motion isolation may want to consider an all-foam mattress or a hybrid with thicker foam layers.

Pressure Relief

7.5/10

If a mattress doesn’t have adequate pressure relief, sleepers can develop pressure points in areas like the hips and shoulders. The memory foam within the Vitality Hybrid’s comfort system is the key to its pressure-relieving capabilities.

Memory foam cradles the body, contouring to its shape to relieve pressure buildup. Along with its cushioning effect, memory foam also evenly distributes body weight across the mattress to prevent pressure points from occurring.

The Vitality Hybrid provides pressure relief that many sleepers should find adequate, but sleepers who need top-notch cushioning may want to add one of Novilla’s compatible mattress toppers or choose another mattress that has more foam.

Temperature Control

7/10

The Vitality Hybrid has multiple features that contribute to its above-average temperature control rating, beginning with its support core. Air circulates easily around the pocketed coils, allowing excess body heat to move through the mattress and dissipate.

Memory foam is quite dense and can sleep hot as a result. However, Novilla uses gel-infused foam that’s designed to regulate temperature better than traditional memory foam.

Additionally, the company engineered both the polyfoam layer and bamboo-derived rayon cover to enhance airflow and prevent overheating. As a result, this model is well suited to all but the hottest sleepers.

Edge Support

7/10

Edge support is an important factor for couples who like to use the entire mattress surface, as well as those who have trouble getting in and out of bed. Our tests found that this model has strong edge support thanks to its coil support system.

The comfort system layers aren’t extremely thick and don’t compress too much when you sit on the edge of the bed, letting the coil core provide substantial support all the way to the mattress’ surface. The bottom polyfoam layer also effectively anchors the bed, preventing it from slipping or shifting when you get up.

Ease of Movement

6/10

This model is on par with the average hybrid mattress when it comes to ease of movement. Its springs provide some bounce that gives the mattress a responsive feel, though the foam comfort system does absorb some movement.

The medium firm support level prevents sleepers from feeling as if they’re sinking too deeply into the mattress, though people who weigh more than 230 pounds may find a firmer mattress more comfortable.

Off-Gassing

6.5/10

Chemicals are part of the manufacturing process of polyurethane foams used in mattresses. While most of the fumes dissipate immediately after the foam’s creation, some volatile organic compounds (VOCs) remain. The release of VOCs after a mattress is unboxed produces a chemical smell that isn’t harmful but can be unpleasant.

The Vitality Hybrid incorporates several foam layers that release some VOCs when you remove the mattress from its packaging. However, the scent should decrease quickly after setting up the bed.

Those with respiratory problems or people particularly sensitive to smell should unwrap their mattress in a well-ventilated area and wait until the off-gassing odor has fully dissipated before use.

Novilla Vitality Hybrid Mattress Review Breakdown

The Novilla Vitality Hybrid Mattress is a medium firm (6) hybrid mattress with four layers and a total profile of 12 inches. A breathable bamboo-derived rayon cover is followed by a top layer of gel-infused memory foam that contours and cushions to provide pressure relief. The cooling gel infusions are engineered to pull heat away from the body.

Beneath the memory foam rests a proprietary polyfoam layer called Airflow Comfort Foam that enhances air circulation and acts as a buffer between the memory foam and support system. The support core features pocketed coils that are individually wrapped. The coils offer significant support that is consistent across the entire mattress surface, including around the perimeter.

Individually wrapping the coils allows them to move independently from one another, which increases motion isolation and allows the mattress to compress in accordance with your weight. A final layer of polyfoam acts as a durable base that works to ensure the mattress’ longevity.

The mattress carries CertiPUR-US and OEKO-TEX certifications, indicating that it meets established environmental standards and has been tested for harmful substances.
