Novilla is a mattress and bedding company headquartered in New York. Novilla’s products stand out for their affordability, with each mattress priced well below the average memory foam or hybrid mattress. The company currently produces pillows, mattress toppers, and three mattresses: the Bliss Memory Foam Mattress, the Serenity Hybrid Mattress, and the Vitality Hybrid Mattress.

The Serenity Hybrid Mattress contains layers of gel-infused memory foam and polyfoam over a pocketed coil support core. The mattress is 10 inches tall and has a cover made with rayon from bamboo.

We’ll take a further look at the Serenity Hybrid Mattress, breaking down pricing, construction and materials. We’ll also examine which types of sleepers it performs best for, to help you determine if it’s the right fit for you.

Although personal preference plays a role, the ideal mattress for a particular sleeper largely depends on their body weight and preferred sleeping position.

Side Sleepers

Side sleepers who weigh between 130 and 230 pounds receive balanced support and pressure relief from the Novilla Serenity Hybrid Mattress. The medium firm surface supports healthy spinal alignment and relieves pressure points.

For side sleepers, a bed that is too soft can cause the hips and shoulders to sink too far, throwing the spine out of alignment and causing discomfort. However, a mattress that is too firm can cause pressure points in contact areas. Most side sleepers fare well with a medium to medium firm mattress that offers a significant amount of contouring.

Individuals who weigh more than 230 pounds may experience a lack of spinal support from the Novilla Serenity Hybrid Mattress, while those who weigh less than 130 pounds may find the mattress too firm.

Back Sleepers

The Serenity Hybrid Mattress performs well for back sleepers under 230 pounds, and particularly those who weigh less than 130 pounds.

Back sleepers need the most support in the lumbar region. The Serenity Hybrid Mattress is firm enough to keep the hips from sinking, but it also provides some contouring to fill in the lower back. Back sleepers who weigh more than 230 pounds may require a firmer and more supportive mattress to maintain spinal alignment.

Stomach Sleepers

The Serenity Hybrid Mattress is an excellent match for stomach sleepers under 130 pounds. For these individuals, the mattress provides a firm enough surface to keep the hips in line with the rest of the body.

The mattress is too plush for most stomach sleepers over 130 pounds. These sleepers sink further into the mattress, which can cause the spine to fall into an unhealthy U-shape.

Mattress Performance

In addition to the hands-on feedback from our team, we conduct a number of quantitative tests in our Test Lab. The below ratings are based on the experience of our testers.

Motion Isolation

6/10

The Novilla Serenity Mattress performs well at motion isolation. The memory foam offsets the springiness of the coils and provides a good deal of contouring, which helps reduce motion transfer across the top of the mattress.

Coil support cores generally transfer more motion than all-foam constructions. However, the Novilla Serenity Hybrid utilizes individually wrapped coils, which are designed not to move when pressure is placed on neighboring coils.

The Serenity Mattress may be a strong choice for light sleepers or those who sleep with a partner, child, or pet.

Pressure Relief

7/10

The Novilla Serenity Hybrid provides above-average pressure relief, which is to be expected from a mattress that contains memory foam. Memory foam is known for its ability to conform closely, helping distribute weight and take pressure off sensitive areas.

Beneath the memory foam, the polyfoam and coil layers form a deep cradle to support the spine. This helps relieve pressure buildup in the back and neck, particularly for sleepers under 230 pounds.

Temperature Control

6.5/10

As a product of the memory foam comfort layer, sleepers may find that the Novilla Serenity Hybrid Mattress traps more heat than other hybrid models.

Memory foam often retains heat due to its closed-cell construction and close conforming. The gel infusions are intended to mitigate this effect by drawing heat away from the sleep surface. The innerspring coils also allow for airflow through the middle of the bed.

While these features somewhat reduce heat retention, sleepers who tend to overheat may struggle to stay cool when sleeping on this mattress.

Edge Support

6.5/10

Compared to other hybrid mattresses, the Novilla Serenity Hybrid Mattress may provide slightly less edge support.

Edge support refers to how much reinforcement there is around the perimeter of the mattress. Too little edge support can lead to feelings of roll-off when sitting or lying near the edge of the bed. This reduces the usable surface area of the mattress.

Despite its sturdy coil base, the Novilla Serenity Hybrid lacks additional reinforcement around the perimeter. While most sleepers should be able to lie near the edge of the bed, those who weigh more than 230 pounds may find themselves sinking uncomfortably far.

Ease of Movement

5.5/10

The Novilla Serenity Hybrid rates on par with most other hybrid mattresses in terms of ease of movement. The coil base provides springiness that makes it easier to switch positions or get in and out of bed.

The medium firm feel also keeps most people sleeping on as opposed to in the mattress, helping to prevent feelings of being stuck. That said, sleepers who weigh more than 230 pounds may require a firmer bed to prevent excessive sinking.

Off-Gassing

6/10

Off-gassing refers to a chemical smell emitted by some new mattresses. The scent comes from volatile organic compounds (VOCs), which are created in the manufacturing process and then trapped within the packaging. The smell may last a few days after unboxing, as VOCs are released into the air. Mattress off-gassing is not typically considered harmful.

The memory foam and polyfoam in the Novilla Serenity Mattress may off-gas somewhat, though any odors should quickly dissipate through the coils. Those who are sensitive to smell may want to air out the mattress prior to using it.

Novilla Serenity Hybrid Mattress Review Breakdown

The Novilla Serenity Mattress is a 10-inch tall hybrid model built with memory foam, polyfoam, and pocketed coils. The mattress has a medium firm feel, which falls at a 6 out of 10 on the firmness scale.

The mattress has a breathable bamboo rayon cover and a Euro-top padded with layers of gel memory foam and polyfoam. The memory foam conforms to reduce pressure points, and the gel infusions are designed to pull heat away from the sleeper. The second foam layer acts as a transitional layer, adding responsiveness and making it easier to change sleeping positions.

The Serenity’s support core is made from individually pocketed coils atop a layer of high-density polyfoam. The coils provide bounce and allow air to flow through the mattress, helping resist heat buildup. The coils are separated by fabric pockets, allowing them to move independently for less motion transfer.

The foams used in the construction of Novilla’s mattresses are CertiPUR-US certified.

Mattress Prices and Sizing

Novilla offers competitive pricing, and the price of the Novilla Serenity falls well below the average cost of other hybrid mattress models.

Hybrid mattresses typically cost more due to their more complex construction, which requires coils as well as a substantial comfort section. Although this mattress may not be as durable as a higher-quality model, it may be a good option for shoppers on a budget. Occasionally, Novilla may offer additional discounts off the regular price.

The Serenity Hybrid Mattress is available in four sizes: twin, full, queen, and king. It is not available in twin XL or California king sizes. The mattress has a 10-inch profile, so shoppers should be able to use standard fitted sheets. It comes with four attached handles designed to make moving the bed easier.

Sizes Dimensions Height Weight Price
Twin 39″ x 75″ 10″ 52 lbs. $494
Full 54″ x 75″ 10″ 68 lbs. $592
Queen 60″ x 80″ 10″ 79 lbs. $740
King 76″ x 80″ 10″ 99 lbs. $888
