While the Leesa Original Hybrid effectively isolates minor movements, our testers could feel the motion of their partner rolling over and changing positions. Its two-layer comfort system absorbs surface-level vibrations, but disturbances that reach the pocketed coil core could travel across the bed. This is comparable to other hybrid models.
Motion isolation is most important for people who share their bed with a partner or pet. Most people are likely to find that the Leesa Original Hybrid has adequate motion isolation, though sleepers who wake up very easily may prefer an all-foam mattress or a hybrid model with a thicker comfort system.

Pros & Cons:
The Leesa Original Hybrid is one of several hybrid models produced by the mattress and bedding company. Intended as a companion to the all-foam Leesa Mattress, the Leesa Original Hybrid has a significantly lower price-point than the company’s other hybrid models, the Leesa Sapira Hybrid and the Leesa Legend Hybrid. Leesa also sells the highly contouring Leesa Studio and three child-sized mattresses.
Prior to the release of the Original Hybrid, the Sapira Hybrid was called the Leesa Hybrid. Both the Sapira Hybrid and Legend Hybrid use specialty foam and offer additional features, while the Original Hybrid has a more straightforward design for budget-conscious shoppers. However, the Original Hybrid’s broad appeal and excellent performance make it an attractive choice for many sleepers regardless of their budgets.
We’ve tested the Leesa Original Hybrid to determine how it performs in a variety of important categories and how it works for sleepers of different body types and preferred sleep positions.
Sleeping Style and Body Weight
Side Sleepers
Despite having a thinner comfort system than some hybrid models, the Leesa Original Hybrid provides the pressure relief side sleepers need without sacrificing support.
The memory foam evenly distributes a side sleeper’s weight to take pressure off their hips and shoulders. Meanwhile, the thicker polyfoam transition layer deepens the cradling while preventing the sleeper from sinking into the support core. The medium firm feel and pocketed coils encourage a neutral spinal position and good hip alignment, which is particularly crucial for people with lower back pain.
Across body types, our side sleepers appreciated the bed’s balanced construction. Some of our testers below 130 pounds noticed slight pressure buildup around their hips and shoulders but not enough to cause discomfort.
Back Sleepers
The Leesa Original Hybrid provides comfort and support for most back sleepers, though it is most suitable for those under 130 pounds.
People who sleep on their backs require excellent support, particularly through their hips. While they do not need as much pressure relief as side or stomach sleepers, the ideal bed for a back sleeper cradles the spine’s natural curvature to prevent tension. The Leesa Original Hybrid’s combination of memory foam, polyfoam, and pocketed coils can fulfill these needs.
Our back sleepers who weigh less than 130 pounds found that the Leesa Original Hybrid provided excellent support and allowed for a neutral spine position. Heavier back sleepers also gave the mattress high scores, though some reported that it wasn’t firm enough for them to maintain a neutral spine position throughout the night.
Stomach Sleepers
People who sleep on their stomachs require a mattress with firm support to prevent midsection sagging that could cause back pain or stiffness.
The Leesa Original Hybrid’s medium firm feel and memory foam comfort layer can provide stable support with limited sinkage for stomach sleepers under 130 pounds. The hips of those between 130 and 230 pounds may sink more deeply into the polyfoam transition layer, potentially putting slight pressure on their lower backs. Those over 230 are likely to sag around their midsections, which could strain their lumbar regions.
Mattress Performance
In addition to the hands-on feedback from our team, we conduct a number of quantitative tests in our Test Lab. The below ratings are based on the experience of our testers.

Leesa Original Hybrid Mattress Review Breakdown
The Leesa Original Hybrid is a medium firm (6) model with an 11-inch profile. It is wrapped in a breathable twill cover made from polyester and viscose.
This model’s comfort system includes a 1-inch layer of memory foam and a 1.5-inch layer of polyfoam. The memory foam contours closely to evenly distribute weight and reduce pressure, though it is thin enough to limit the sinking feeling common with memory foam beds. The polyfoam layer works as both a pressure-relieving comfort layer and a moderately responsive transitional layer that prevents sleepers from feeling the support core.
Like most hybrid models, the Leesa Original Hybrid has a pocketed coil support core. The 8-inch coils are wrapped in fabric so that they compress individually, providing sleepers with targeted pressure relief and encouraging neutral spinal alignment. Pocketed coils are also better at isolating motion than traditional innerspring designs. Two rows of reinforced coils line the bed’s sides, improving both durability and edge support. Finally, a layer of high-density polyfoam creates a stable base for the coils to compress against.

If the mattress is dirty or damaged, it is not returnable.
Returns are free for customers in the contiguous U.S. Leesa donates returned mattresses that remain in good condition.
Leesa backs its mattresses with a 10-year limited warranty. The warranty covers permanent indentations deeper than 1 inch, physical flaws in the memory foam, and problems with the cover and zipper.
