The Wave Hybrid isolates motion to a greater extent than many hybrid mattresses on the market.
The multilayer comfort system absorbs a significant amount of motion. The zoned memory foam and polyfoam layers further reduce the amount of motion that reaches the coil core. Since springs have more bounce to them than most foam, coil layers sometimes transfer motion. However, the Wave Hybrid uses pocketed coils encased in foam, which move separately from each other to limit motion transfer. Additionally, the thick foam layers diminish the movement that reaches the core and vibrations that may emanate from the core.
The Wave Hybrid’s strong motion isolation may reduce overnight disturbances that result from one partner moving during the night.

Casper is one of the most popular direct-to-consumer mattress companies. Casper currently produces multiple online models: the Casper, the Casper Hybrid, the Wave Hybrid, the Nova Hybrid, and the Element. The Casper is the company’s all-foam flagship model, while the Casper Hybrid uses the same comfort system but pairs it with a coil core. Constructed of foam, the Element is Casper’s most budget-friendly model.
This review will focus exclusively on Casper’s luxury model: the Wave Hybrid. This is Casper’s most expensive mattress, featuring special materials to stay cool, relieve pressure, and provide support. The Wave is an all-foam model constructed of five distinct layers. The Wave Hybrid is a hybrid model constructed of five distinct layers. Four layers of different proprietary foams rest on a pocketed, foam-encased coil core for extra bounce, breathability, and edge support.
We’ll discuss the Casper Wave Hybrid in-depth, detailing its construction, pricing, performance, reviews, and more. If you are considering purchasing the Wave Hybrid, keep reading for more information.
Casper Wave Hybrid Video Review
Watch the video below to see how the Casper Wave Hybrid Mattress performed when put to the test in our lab.
Sleeping Style and Body Weight
Side Sleepers:
The Wave Hybrid’s close conforming comfort system coupled with the targeted support of its zoned layers can relieve sharp pressure points from side sleeping while encouraging good spinal alignment.
Because the hips and shoulders tend to be the widest parts of the body, side sleepers frequently experience pressure points around these body parts. The Wave Hybrid’s soft, thick multilayer comfort system spreads out body weight more evenly to relieve these pressure points. The zoned foam layer with gel pods gives more support to the midsection of the sleeper’s body to reduce the risk of their hips sinking in excessively.
The Wave Hybrid’s medium feel is likely to provide a strong balance of pressure relief and support for side sleepers who weigh less than 230 pounds. Sleepers over 230 pounds tend to prefer firmer mattresses with more support. When sleeping on their sides on the Wave Hybrid, individuals in this weight group could experience more pressure buildup and sinkage, particularly around their hips.
Back Sleepers:
The Wave Hybrid can provide excellent support for back sleepers under 130 pounds. However, it is less supportive for individuals who weigh more.
To maintain proper spinal alignment, back sleepers usually require a relatively even surface that doesn’t sag. The Wave Hybrid’s zoned layers can help reduce sagging around the midsection of the mattress, which may be beneficial to back sleepers.
However, the medium feel of the mattress may allow heavier individuals to sink in more, which may put their spines out of alignment. This effect is likely to be less noticeable for back sleepers between 130 and 230 pounds, who may still find the Wave Hybrid quite comfortable. However, sleepers over 230 pounds are more likely to experience sinkage around their midsections.
Stomach Sleepers:
Stomach sleepers usually require a mattress that does not allow for excessive sinkage around their midsection, where many individuals carry more weight. If the sleeper’s midsection dips too deeply into the mattress, it may put more strain on their spine, leading to aches and pains.
The Wave Hybrid’s second zoned layer uses gel pods to reinforce the middle of the mattress, reducing how far a stomach sleeper’s midsection can sink in. While this targeted support may make the Wave Hybrid better suited to stomach sleeping than some hybrid mattresses, the medium feel and thick comfort layers could be a drawback for some individuals.
The stomach sleeper’s midsection can sink in quite a bit before reaching the zoned layer. Additionally, the medium feel is softer than ideal for many stomach sleepers, especially heavier individuals. However, stomach sleepers who weigh under 130 pounds are likely to find the Wave Hybrid sufficiently firm and supportive.

Casper Wave Hybrid Mattress Review Breakdown
The Casper Wave Hybrid is a hybrid model made up of multiple different kinds of foam layers on top of foam-encased pocketed coils.
The mattress cover uses a blend of recycled polyester, cotton, rayon, and lycra. The cotton is included for its breathability and temperature-regulating properties. The recycled polyester is an eco-friendly material made in part by recycling bottles into fabric.
The comfort system is constructed of three distinct layers. A top layer uses 1 inch of open-cell polyfoam that allows cooling airflow while cushioning the sleeper. The next layer is 1.5 inches of open-cell latex. This material is perforated for greater air circulation. Next, a 1.5 inches of zoned memory foam conforms to the sleeper’s body, taking pressure off heavier body parts.
A transition layer of 1.5 inches of polyfoam with targeted gel pods acts as a buffer between the comfort system and the core. Gel pods rest in grooves in the polyfoam to give extra support around the sleeper’s midsection while allowing their shoulders to sink in more. This is crafted to support improved spinal alignment.
The Wave Hybrid has a support core that is 7-inches thick in total. The mattress uses a 6-inch layer of pocketed coils surrounded by polyfoam to support the sleep surface while adding more bounce, breathability, and edge support.
The bed rates at around 5 on the 10-point firmness scale, meaning it has a medium feel. This is on the soft end of the average range that most sleepers tend to prefer.
The Wave Hybrid is a high-profile model measuring 13 inches thick, so it may require extra deep sheets. The extra thickness may also make it easier for individuals with mobility issues to get into and out of bed.

The Casper Wave Hybrid comes in all the standard mattress sizes. We’ll list the prices of each mattress size below. However, shoppers should keep in mind that Casper frequently runs promotions that could help them save money on a Wave Hybrid.
