The latex used in most mattresses retains some natural responsiveness that can create noticeable bounciness on the surface. The coils used in the Hybrid latex add to the bed’s springy feel. As a result, you may generate some motion transfer across the surface whenever you get on and off the bed or change sleep positions. This has potential to disrupt your partner’s sleep. Likewise, your sleep may be disturbed by your partner’s movements.
While the Hybrid Latex absorbs some movement and eliminates a fair amount of transfer, the mattress does not isolate motion as well as most competing hybrid models with memory foam or polyfoam layers. These materials respond slowly to the body, and this allows the surface to absorb more movement and confine it to smaller areas of the mattress. If you and/or your partner are sensitive to movements in bed, then the Hybrid Latex may lead to some disruptions.

Pros & Cons:
Brentwood Home is a California-based “mattress-in-a-box” brand that has sold mattresses since 2009. The company is best known for beds made from innovative materials that are also sustainably sourced. In this review, we’ll take a look at the new Brentwood Home latex hybrid mattress.
The mattress – dubbed the Hybrid Latex – is constructed with a top layer of natural wool batting over 4 inches of ventilated latex. These components make the surface very breathable and the latex is divided into three firmness zones for maximum support. A pad of recycled flax fibers form the transitional layer, and the support core consists of pocketed coils over a base layer of batting material made from recycled denim fibers. The cover also uses eco-friendly materials, with a top panel derived from organic cotton and a bottom panel made from a blend of polyester and recycled plastic bottles. Altogether, the Hybrid Latex measures 12 inches thick. The mattress has a medium feel that corresponds to a 5 on the 1-10 scale.
The Hybrid Latex differs from other Brentwood Home mattresses, as these models contain memory foam. These include the reversible Crystal Cove; the Cypress, which is available as an all-foam or hybrid model; and the Oceano coil-on-coil hybrid. The Hybrid Latex has a mid-range price-point for a Brentwood Home mattress.

Sleeping Style and Body Weight
Side Sleepers
The best mattresses for side sleepers are generally softer mattresses that cushion the shoulders and hips. This helps to support the body, align the spine, and alleviate pressure. Since the Hybrid Latex has a medium feel, it will probably be too firm for most side sleepers weighing less than 130 pounds. These individuals typically prefer soft to medium soft beds.
For many side sleepers weighing between 130 and 230 pounds, the mattress will offer the ideal balance of cushioning and support. Their shoulders and hips receive adequate padding without sinking too deeply, leading to optimal alignment and fewer pressure points.
The best mattresses for heavy sleepers are almost always on the firmer side. Side sleepers who weigh more than 230 pounds may also feel comfortable on the Hybrid Latex, but some will find it a bit too soft – especially around the hips. This can lead to excessive sinkage that compromises alignment and increases the potential for more pressure.
Back Sleepers
Compared to side sleepers, back sleepers usually need more firmness and support. This position promotes even spinal alignment without cushioning from the mattress, but back sleepers tend to sink excessively between their shoulders and hips if the bed does not provide enough reinforcement.
The Hybrid Latex is highly supportive. This is thanks not only to its sturdy coil system, but also the thick, zoned latex layer that keeps the torso, back, and hips elevated to ensure an even plane for the body. After testing the mattress, our back sleepers weighing up to 230 pounds all noted excellent support and little to no pressure while lying on the Hybrid Latex.
Our back sleeping testers who weigh more than 230 pounds agree the mattress is very supportive overall, but its medium feel is a bit too soft and sinkage is likely to occur beneath the waist. This may not be an issue for some – but for others, it will lead to aches and pains in the hips and lower back.
Stomach Sleepers
Like back sleepers, stomach sleepers often require added support from their mattress. Most of us carry more weight in our stomachs, and sleeping face down can cause the entire body to sink – sometimes to an uncomfortable degree.
Stomach sleepers who weigh less than 130 pounds won’t sink too much, but the mattress may feel a bit too stiff for their liking. These individuals tend to prefer medium soft to medium firm beds. On the other hand, stomach sleepers weighing more than 230 pounds will probably sink a bit more around the midsection, leading to added aches and pains in the neck, shoulders, and lumbar region.
We found that stomach sleepers weighing between 130 and 230 pounds are well-suited to this mattress. They feel a bit of contouring from the Hybrid Latex but the zoned comfort layer and strong coil system keep their bodies on a flat, even plane. Testers in this weight group reported excellent pressure relief from the mattress.

Brentwood Home Hybrid Latex Mattress Review Breakdown
As the name suggests, the Brentwood Home Hybrid Latex is a latex hybrid mattress. It measures 12 inches thick and its feel is considered medium (5).
The mattress begins with a top layer of wool batting sourced from India. This material serves as the bed’s fire barrier and also supplies some extra surface cushioning. Wool is naturally breathable, as well, and wicks away moisture from your body in order to keep you cool.
The 4-inch comfort layer consists of natural latex molded into a convoluted shape. The material is zoned, meaning it feels firmer beneath areas where most people carry a larger amount of weight – such as the lower torso and hips – and softer beneath the head and neck, shoulders, and legs. The latex is also ventilated with small holes to promote added airflow near the mattress surface. Latex is naturally responsive, so you’ll notice some bounciness when you get on and off the bed.
The latex in this mattress has earned certification from the eco-INSTITUT, which is awarded to manufacturers who minimize pollutants and emissions during production; and from the FSC and Rainforest Alliance, indicating the latex has been sustainably grown and harvested.
The mattress also includes a transitional layer made of flax fiber, which is very durable. This layer is designed to prevent you from sinking excessively and coming into contact with the bed’s coil system. The Hybrid Latex contains up to 975 8-inch pocketed coils in the support core, depending on the selected size. The bed’s base layer is composed of batting derived from recycled denim. These materials provide excellent stability for the mattress, especially around the perimeter where sinkage is more likely.
The Hybrid Latex’s cover consists of two parts. The top panel is made from organic cotton that has been certified by the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) and the bottom panel is made from a blend of polyester and recycled plastic bottles. The mattress is equipped with six exterior handles to assist with lifting and carrying.

Mattress Prices and Sizing
The Hybrid Latex’s price-point is considerably lower than the average cost for a latex hybrid, which falls between $1,600 and $2,200 in a queen size. The Hybrid Latex costs more than the all-foam and hybrid Cypress, and less than the Crystal Cove and Oceano.
Brentwood Home does not offer any customizations for the mattress that affect its price, but you can bundle your purchase with a foundation (starting at $225) or an adjustable base (starting at $599). Standard ground shipping is free for all orders. White Glove delivery including in-home assembly is also available for $199; for mattress removal, the cost of this service increases to $275.
The Hybrid Latex is available in the six standard mattress sizes. It is quite heavy, so be sure to ask for help lifting and moving the mattress if you select standard delivery. Dimensions, weights, and prices for each size are listed below.

Trial, Warranty, and Shipping Policies
At this time, the Hybrid Latex is exclusively available on the Brentwood Home website. It is not available through any third-party retailers and – unlike other Brentwood Home models – cannot be purchased through Amazon.com. Brentwood Home does not operate any brick-and-mortar locations at this time.
Brentwood Home offers free ground shipping anywhere in the contiguous U.S., but delivery is not available to any other locations (including Alaska and Hawaii). For this shipping method, the mattress will be compressed, vacuum-sealed, and wrapped in plastic. This process – known as “roll-packing” – allows the mattress to fit inside a compact shipping box, which will be delivered to your doorstep.
You aren’t required to be at home when the mattress arrives, but you will need to carry the box inside and assemble the mattress yourself. Unbox the bed and carefully remove the plastic wrapping with a knife. The mattress will immediately begin to expand, but allow 48 hours for full shape recovery.
In addition to standard ground shipping, Brentwood Home offers White Glove delivery within the contiguous U.S. This service, which includes scheduled delivery and full assembly in a room of your choice, costs $199 for all locations. If you would like White Glove couriers to also remove your old mattress, the price increases to $275.
The Hybrid Latex comes with a one-year trial period, which is much longer than the average sleep trial. Brentwood Home requires you to test out the mattress for at least 30 nights before you’ll be able to initiate a return. In the event of a return, Brentwood Home will issue a full product refund (minus White Glove charges, if applicable) and arrange for couriers to pick up the mattress from your residence for donation or recycling.
If you are dissatisfied with the Hybrid Latex, you can also exchange the mattress for another Brentwood Home model. However, this will void the remaining sleep trial and the replacement bed cannot be returned for a full refund.
Brentwood Home offers a 25-year warranty for the Hybrid Latex. During the first 10 years of ownership, the warranty coverage will be non-prorated. This means you won’t pay anything – apart from transportation fees – to have your mattress repaired or replaced if a defect develops during this time.
Prorated coverage kicks in during year 11, when you’ll pay 50 percent of the original mattress price to have your Hybrid Latex replaced. This amount increases by 5 percent for each subsequent year until year 20, at which time you’ll pay 95 percent of the original price to replace the mattress for the duration of the warranty.
Under this warranty, sagging and body impressions in the surface measuring 2 inches or deeper are considered defects. Other issues, such as physical damage from misuse or improper foundational support, are not considered defects and will not warrant repairs or replacements.
