Allswell is a fairly new sleep company backed by Walmart. Aside from mattresses, Allswell also sells mattress toppers and bed and bath linens.

Allswell currently offers three mattresses: the Allswell, the Allswell Luxe, and the Allswell Supreme. All three are hybrid mattresses that come at an attractive price-point, with the price increasing progressively based on the quality and thickness of the comfort layers.

In this Allswell mattress review, we’ll be focusing on the flagship Allswell mattress, the most basic model and the one that’s easiest on the wallet.

The 10-inch Allswell mattress combines memory foam and pocketed coils for a balanced feel that appeals to a wide range of sleepers. We’ve broken down the performance ratings, sleeper recommendations, and other practical information to help you decide if this could be the right mattress for you.

Side Sleepers

The Allswell incorporates memory foam and a quilted cover to provide some initial contouring. This can help alleviate pressure points in sleepers over 130 pounds. However, the bed’s firm feel and thin comfort layers will cause some pressure points in side sleepers under 130 pounds.

Back Sleepers

Back sleeping naturally aligns the spine. The best mattress for back sleepers will maintain this position, offering a balance of pressure relief and spinal support to keep the hips from sinking in too far.

The Allswell provides sufficient cushioning and spinal support for back sleepers across all weight groups.

Stomach Sleepers

Firm mattresses are generally best suited to stomach sleepers, who also need to prevent excessive sinkage in the hips. The Allswell’s firm surface should be comfortable for stomach sleepers who weigh less than 230 pounds.

However, those who weigh above 230 pounds may not find the support they need to prevent the hips from sinking too deeply into the mattress, which can cause strain on the lower back.

Mattress Performance

In addition to the hands-on feedback from our team, we conduct a number of quantitative tests in our Test Lab. The below ratings are based on the experience of our testers.

Motion Isolation

5.5/10

The Allswell isolates motion to an average extent for a hybrid mattress. Since the coils are individually wrapped, they won’t allow as much motion to travel across the bed as in an innerspring mattress.

Memory foam conforms locally and has a slow response to pressure that inhibits motion transfer. However, due to the relatively thin comfort layers, the Allswell won’t absorb as much motion as some hybrid mattresses.

If you share the bed with a partner, you should find that small movements won’t wake each other up. However, if one of you is a light sleeper, you may be better off with an all-foam mattress or a hybrid with thicker comfort layers.

Pressure Relief

5/10

The Allswell provides a moderate amount of pressure relief in the comfort layers. The quilted cover and memory foam conform somewhat to the sleeper’s body, providing a balanced feel that should reduce most pressure points in sleepers over 130 pounds.

Still, the Allswell is relatively firm, with just a few inches of memory foam before the coils. Due to the mattress’s firmer feel, lighter sleepers may experience pressure points when sleeping on their side.

Temperature Control

6.5/10

Most sleepers should sleep cool on the Allswell mattress. Hybrids are generally known for their temperature neutrality, as heat is able to escape through the coil layer instead of getting trapped in the mattress. Moreover, the Allswell’s firmer surface means that sleepers will mostly sleep “on” and not “in” the mattress, resulting in less heat trapped around the body.

To further improve temperature neutrality, Allswell has infused the memory foam with charcoal and copper gel. These materials conduct heat away from the sleeper to avoid the traditional memory foam problem of sleeping hot.

Edge Support

7.5/10

Thanks to higher-gauge coils on each side of the bed, the Allswell boasts reliable edge support. This is important when getting in and out of bed, as well as when sleeping near the edge of the bed.

If you have a small bedroom, a bed with sturdy edges lets your bed double as a place to sit. For people who share a smaller mattress, strong edges allow each partner to use their full side of the bed without crowding toward the middle.

Ease of Movement

5.5/10

Since the Allswell has a fairly firm surface, the mattress allows for easy movement. The coils add further responsiveness that boosts motion. Combination sleepers should have no trouble switching sleeping positions.

Off-Gassing

6/10

Some customers may notice some off-gassing odors when the mattress is first unboxed. This is perfectly normal, and the odors are generally not considered harmful. Since the mattress only has a few inches of foam and plenty of airflow through the coils, the smell shouldn’t stick around.

Off-gassing happens when foams come in contact with the air and release volatile organic compounds (VOCs). Allswell uses foams that are certified by CertiPUR-US, meaning they are low in VOCs and free of harmful substances like formaldehyde and ozone depleters.

Allswell Mattress Review Breakdown

The Allswell is a no-frills hybrid mattress with a straightforward build, featuring charcoal and copper-infused memory foam over pocketed coils. Its comfort layer section is relatively thin compared to other hybrid mattresses.

This gives the mattress a firm surface that rates at a 7 out of 10 on the firmness scale. While the memory foam allows for some sink, sleepers will mostly sleep “on” and not “in” the Allswell. This firmness level tends to work best for stomach and back sleepers who weigh at least 130 pounds.

Allswell also offers an optional down alternative mattress pad and a selection of memory foam mattress toppers to give the mattress a plusher feel. This is a helpful option if you’re a side sleeper, if you weigh under 130 pounds, or even if you just prefer the feel of a softer mattress.

Those who are willing to expand their budget may wish to consider Allswell’s other mattress models. The Allswell Supreme has a plusher surface that is more suitable for side sleepers, while the Luxe offers more robust support for people over 230 pounds.

Mattress Prices and Sizing

The Allswell mattress is very inexpensive compared to other hybrid models. Most hybrid mattresses cost upwards of $1,000 in a queen size, while an Allswell queen mattress costs less than $500.

The low cost is partly due to the thin comfort layer section. Allswell’s mattress sizes are also one inch shorter in all sizes compared with the standard measurements. That being said, it’s still a great value for shoppers on a budget.

For sleepers who are willing to pay a little more for more advanced features, Allswell’s Luxe and the Allswell Supreme mattresses may fit the bill. These are both hybrid models as well, but they offer enhanced edge support and thicker comfort layers with more sophisticated foams.

The company recommends allowing three weeks before initiating returns to allow your body to adjust to the feel. Mattresses must be in good condition in order to be accepted for return.

Warranty

The Allswell hybrid mattress comes with a 10-year warranty protecting against workmanship and manufacturing defects. Customers with a mattress deemed defective will either receive a replacement or a prorated refund.

Defects covered under the warranty include indentations of at least 1.5 inches. The warranty does not cover normal increases in the softness of the foam or a lessening of the memory foam recovery where these do not affect its pressure-relieving capabilities.

Mattresses that have been used without a proper foundation, as well as intentionally damaged mattresses or mattresses that are burnt, cut, damaged by water, moldy, stained, etc. are not eligible for the warranty. The use of a heating pad or electric blanket with the mattress will void the warranty.

To submit a warranty claim, customers must provide photos and details of the damage as well as the original proof of purchase. Allswell provides a link on the company’s website where customers can register their mattresses for the warranty upon delivery.
